WHAT IS MIND BODY TRUTH APPROACH?


Here at Mind Body Truth we help clients to work with their symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, IBS, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and  Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome to bring about full health and wellbeing.


The generally accepted medical view and the prevailing view of the world is that the mind and body are separate. We seek to divide the body up into systems and functions and seek to treat and medicate symptoms. Symptoms are viewed as a sign that there is something wrong with our bodies. Yet there is a growing body of evidence which shows that symptoms of illness are generated as a result of irregularities or changes in the parts of our brain responsible for ensuring survival and balance within our bodies.


Those parts of our brain termed 'the emotional brain' are responsible for a host of vital processes within our bodies:  regulating body temperature, blood pressure, heartbeat, metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, sugar levels in the blood, wake/sleep cycles, sexual function and emotional behaviour, to name a few.  So in the same way as hunger alerts us to low blood sugar in our bodies, symptoms of anxiety/ fatigue/ IBS are signalling us that something in our lives needs attention. In contrast to what is popularly believed, these symptoms are purposeful and are asking to be listened to.


When we don't listen to our symptoms, our body sends more or different symptoms to get our attention. The debilitating range of symptoms sent by our bodies is in fact a call to action.


The purpose of the Mind Body Truth is to reconnect our body and mind and learn how to use the information being sent from our emotional brain to create maximum health and wellbeing

HOW DOES IT WORK?


We view the body as having two sources of intelligence:  thinking brain and the emotional brain. It is important that they work together as a team in the way nature intended. 


The key role of the thinking brain is to problem solve and support rational logical thought. While the thinking brain has a important role to play, it is often overused. Over time, we gradually lose our ability to connect with the emotional part of our brain.


The emotional brain draws information from what we call the three layers of knowledge:


The intellectual mind/ thinking brain ( includes both conscious and subconscious mind)

Our gut (Johns Hopkins) and

Our heart (Heart Math Institute)


Since keeping us safe and ensuring we live a balanced life are key concerns for the emotional brain, it is vital we learn to connect with these three layers of knowledge. Since we are not taught how to do this, we can often misinterpret the messages being sent. It's like trying to learn French from scratch without a teacher!
